Songs for Japan (Compilation album)

"Songs for Japan" merupakan sebuah album kompilasi yang dibuat untuk negara Jepang sebagai kepedulian industri musik global kepada para korban gempa bumi dan tsunami ditahun 2011 di Tohoku. Album ini merupakan sebuah proyek kolaboratif antara empat lebel industri rekaman besar yaitu EMI, Sony, Universal, dan Warner. Album ini tersedia untuk di download melalui iTunes Store di 22 Negara dan telah menduduki posisi pertama di Amerika dan Prancis, dengan total 18 Negara. Penjualan album kompilasi ini hanya dilakukan dalam versi online agar bantuan bisa lebih cepat disalurkan melalui Japanese Red Cross Society. "Kami merilisnya secara digital karena pengaruhnya lebih cepat dan album kompilasi ini akan dirilis di seluruh dunia", tutur salah seorang juru bicara Universal Music. Sebuah perilisan fisik dijadwalkan pada tanggal 4 April 2011 melalui Sony. Universal Music merilis secara resmi daftar 38 lagu yang akan masuk kedalam album ini. Musisi senior dan junior muncul dan ikut serta dalam proyek ini. Mulai dari John Lennon hingga Justin Bieber, Madonna hingga Lady Gaga. Musisi dari lintas genre juga menjadi salah satu warna dalam album ini. Dari David Guetta hingga Bruce Springsteen sampai Norah Jones hingga Rihanna.
